The simplicity of this high-concept film belies the depth and skill of the filmmaking involved. Directors Bradley Beesley (Okie Noodling) and Sarah Price (The Yes Men) take us through an entire summer at a kids' nature camp. Both filmmakers have an eye for beautiful compositions, and both share an ability to converse naturally with their subjects from behind the camera. From these skills comes a film that tells the simple stories of summer's highs and lows with a delicate perfection. With a score that's chock full of the Flaming Lips (who Beesley worked with on last year's T/F standout My Life With the Fearless Freaks), this quietly affecting take on the trial and triumphs of youth stands as another strong showing from two talented directors.
