Alanis Obomsawin (Abenaki) is one of Canada's most distinguished filmmakers. She has directed more than 20 documentaries for the National Film Board of Canada, and is an eloquent advocate for social justice. She was made a member of the Order of Canada in 1983 and has recently been honored with film retrospectives at major film festivals, including the 2003 Margaret Mead Film Festival and the 2004 IMAGeNative Film Festival. The screening is free and open to the public, and will be followed by a Q&A with Obomsawin and a reception sponsored by the Chancellor's Diversity Initiative. Hot spiced cider and dessert tarts will be served!
