American Shopper

SPECIAL HOMETOWN SNEAK PREVIEW
dir. Tamas Botjer & Sybil Dessau, 2007, 84 min.
Sunday, Mar. 4, 7:30pm; Missouri Theatre
In person: co-directors Tamas Bojtor and Sybil Dessau, producer Katie Mustard, and star Jonathan Gotsick
What is "aisling," and do we really need a movie about it? Well, aisling is a hybrid sport akin to synchronized swimming with shopping carts. As for the second question, the answer is a resounding "yes." Directors Bojtor and Dessau managed to take the concept of an improbable competition and find real drama in the stranger-than-fiction lives of our fellow Columbians. Funny, touching and even thrilling, Shopper is that rare hybrid that offers the best of both fiction and documentary. (DW)

Plays with America (dir: Chris Boeckmann; 8 min) — An unreliable history of our country, 30 seconds at a time. Made on a digital still camera by local 16-year-old Chris Boeckmann.

Prior to the films, join us at 6:30 pm in the Missouri Theatre lobby for the closing night reception prepared by Addison's.
