The True Life Fund screening

SNEAK PREVIEW
Saturday, Mar. 3, 3:30pm; Missouri Theatre
A brand-new True/False initiative, the True Life Fund is our attempt to give something back to those who appear in front of the camera. When we saw this film, we knew we'd found the perfect first recipients. This dramatic and uplifting doc, the audience favorite at the IDFA fest in Amsterdam, shows the results of the devastating AIDS epidemic in Africa through the story of a 12-year-old girl, Slindile, who lives at the Agape Orphanage in KwazaZulu Natal. The children at the orphanage form a choir and use singing to raise money and lift their spirits. The film follows the choir's successes and Slindile's story as her elder brother falls gravely ill. The Agape Orphanage will be the first recipient of our new True Life Fund, in which we solicit audience donations (with matching funds from other groups) to give to the subjects of one film each year. Documentaries can create change! (DW)
