Introduction

The liveliest new nonfiction films in the world are coming to downtown Columbia — some fresh from Sundance, Toronto and other festivals, others appearing mysteriously before their official premieres elsewhere. The True/False Film Festival returns for our fourth edition Mar. 1-4, 2007 at five venues: the Missouri Theatre, the Blue Note, the Ragtag Cinema, the Cherry Street Artisan, and the Forrest Theater at the Tiger Ballroom.

A boutique festival with a down-home flea market flair, True/False continues to bring together smart, impassioned and forward-thinking filmmakers with the best audiences in the world. Our carefully curated selection of challenging, insightful and raucous new nonfiction films dispels the notion that documentaries are stuffy and dry — we'll show movies that blur the line between fact and fantasy, documentary and narrative, propaganda and journalism, and honor vigorous work that evades easy categorization.

All of our venues are within blocks of each other and all our events take place in the heart of downtown Columbia. Sandwiched between the nonstop movies, we'll throw parties, host panel discussions, and challenge local filmmakers to reimagine the possibilities of nonfiction filmmaking. Once again, Cherry St. Artisan serves as the festival box office and headquarters, and it's your first stop to purchase passes and pick up tickets.

Passes go on sale online and at the Missouri Theatre Box Office starting January 8th. Ticket reservations (fully automated in 2007!) begin February 12th. So stay tuned, clear your schedule and get ready for True/False's annual revival. We promise it'll be worth your while.
