As the Democratic primary entered the summer stretch, excitement began to reach a fever pitch, and Denver began to prepare for one of the most high-profile political conventions ever. Meanwhile, filmmaker AJ Schnack had an idea — to assemble an all-star lineup of documentary directors and tell the story of a city striving to put on the biggest show in the world. Joined by the likes of Laura Poitras (My Country, My Country), Paul Taylor (We Are Together), Julia Reichert & Steven Bognar (A Lion in the House), and Daniel Junge (Who Killed Sister Dorothy) — not to mention Columbians Nathan Truesdell and David Wilson — Schnack set out to capture Denver through the eyes of its mayors office, its reporters, its police and its protesters.
