Sounds and Visions of a New World: Junior Eurovision as Microcosm of a Changing Europe

Ostensibly about the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, Sounds Like Teen Spirit is also an irresistible portrait of a fast-changing Europe from Cyprus to the former Soviet republics — where songs seem to be a good replacement for guns. Among the junior competitors of 2007 was Mariam Romelashvili from Georgia, whose participation is a source of major pride for her embattled country. English director Jamie Jay Johnson will show clips and kick off a lively discussion about the future of Europe.
