Annabeth, Josh, and Brandon are too young to drive on city streets, but they careen around courses in go-karts one inch off the ground at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour. Racing Dreams follows the tween trio through the World Karting Association championship season. This puts enormous strain on the kids and their families as it will ultimately decide whether they move on to stock cars and NASCAR racing. Oscar-nominated director Marshall Curry (Street Fight) captures the excitement of the races as well as the behind-the-scenes struggles of the young protagonists and their families, who have to drive hundreds of miles and spend small fortunes to keep their children in the running. These kids drive hard, but they still find time for young love and other adolescent pursuits. It's impossible not to root for them as they compete to be the very best. (IK)
