A documentary in a box, or a photo booth to be more accurate. Come down to the Artisan any time during the fest to check it out and tell your story. The Video Confessional project exists to close the circuit between producer and audience, subject and spectator. Part photo booth, part confessional, the box creates a space where all of us can perform for the camera, in a setting that is at once both private and public. The complete video will screen Sunday evening in the lobby of the Missouri Theatre. All are encouraged to visit the Box Friday and Saturday at the Cherry St. Artisan and swap secrets.
Show-Me Love is a film competition that challenges local filmmakers to make a three-minute video or film about a love story that actually happened. Each project must also contain a physical representation of Missouri. Filmmakers have from January 10, 2004 to February 10, 2004 to create their projects. All submissions must be on either VHS or MiniDV formats.
Entrance fee per video or film will be $15.00. Three people from each entry will get into the screening for free. Filmmakers are encouraged to enter as many projects as they like. The submissions will be judged by visiting celebrity filmmakers including Timothy "Speed" Levitch (The Cruise) and Ed "Speedo" Jager (Speedo: A Demolition Derby Love Story). All submissions will be screened 6:30-8:30pm, Saturday, February 14, 2004 at The Blue Note, 17 N. 9th Street, Columbia, Missouri.
Entry forms and a full list of rules can be picked up at the Ragtag Cinema, 23 N. Tenth St., Columbia, Missouri. Submissions should be mailed, with entry fee, to Show-Me Love, P.O. Box 1102, Columbia, MO 65205, or contact Chip Gubera at 573-875-4759 to make other arrangements.
Show-Me Love is part of the True/False Film Festival, February 13th to the 15th. Admittance discounts will be given to True/False Festival pass holders. Funds raised will go to CMRA (Columbia Media Resource Alliance, a not-for-profit group) and the True/False Film Festival.
